Birdo's Magik Mushrooms rolled to a 10-0 decision, and the story was told before most of the crowd had settled in. Zeph's crew hung four on the board in the first, tacked on a single in the second, and put up another four in the third — a steady, joyless-for-the-visitors accumulation that gave Weed Sox pitching no room to breathe. Boo, drawing the start, never found his footing: two innings, nine earned, twelve hits surrendered, a line that reads more like a fire report than a box score. By the time Paratroopa (Red) came on in relief, the game had already curdled. The game MVP was Magikoopa (Yellow), who did the work on both sides of the ball. On the mound he spun three scoreless frames, punched out five, and kept the Weed Sox to five scattered hits. At the plate he chipped in two knocks and two runs batted in. He had plenty of company. Birdo went a perfect 3-for-3 and drove one in, Petey Piranha added two hits and two RBI, and the Mushrooms piled up fifteen hits as a team against the Sox's five. For Ylander's side, the few bright spots were quiet ones — Dry Bones (Grey) went 2-for-2, the Blue model added a single, and Bowser reached — but none of it came home. Zero runs on the ledger tends to make individual hits feel like footnotes. The result runs Birdo's Magik Mushrooms to 2-0 and perches them atop the table with a run differential (22-1) that borders on the comical.
